7-day cycling tour through the Tuscan hills

Starting from

€ 1.490

description

A 7-day cycling tour exploring the rolling hills of Tuscany, with vineyards, olive groves, cypress-lined roads, castles and ancient parish churches. A journey in search of beauty and inspiration, riding the bike of your choice.

The tour begins in Florence, the capital of Tuscany, before heading into the hills of the Chianti Classico region, where forests, vineyards and olive groves dominate the landscape.

From here you continue toward San Gimignano, often called the “Medieval Manhattan”, where you can taste local specialties such as saffron and Vernaccia wine.

But this is the very heart of Tuscany, and the journey continues toward Volterra, the hilltop town once chosen by the ancient Etruscans as a place to live.

The ride then leads you toward the historic city of Siena, passing through charming villages such as Casole d’Elsa and Monteriggioni along the way.

Day 1
The tour begins just outside Florence, the capital of Tuscany. Here you will receive your rental bikes and your luggage will be collected before you ride toward the village of Radda in Chianti.

Night 1
We usually book a charming hotel located within the historic walls of the town.

Day 2
Today’s circular route takes you through some of the most characteristic landscapes of the Chianti Classico region, with many opportunities to taste local wines, perhaps accompanied by pecorino cheese and fresh fruit.

Night 2
Return to the same hotel as the first night.

Day 3
Leaving behind the unique scenery of Chianti, the landscape opens across the Val d’Elsa valley. Soon the famous towers of San Gimignano will appear on the horizon.

Night 3
We choose a hotel in the historic center of the town with beautiful views over the surrounding countryside.

Day 4
San Gimignano, often called the “Jerusalem of Tuscany,” is not the only highlight of the day. Beautiful landscapes accompany you along the route, and you will understand why the ancient Etruscans always chose the most scenic places for their settlements.

Night 4
Hotel located between the Etruscan and medieval walls of the town, with swimming pool and breathtaking views.

Day 5
The hills characterized by the geothermal steam vents known as soffioni, a volcanic phenomenon, soon give way to the Berignone Nature Reserve. Following the old Salt Road, you reach the charming village of Casole d’Elsa, known for its sculptures and artistic details.

Night 5
Our preferred accommodation is a beautifully restored B&B in a historic building on the edge of the village.

Day 6
Before reaching Siena, you will pass through the impressive fortress of Monteriggioni and several small hidden gems along the way, including the village of Mensano.

Night 6
Your accommodation tonight is a former convent within the city walls, now a comfortable three-star hotel with all modern amenities.

Day 7
A glimpse of the Crete Senesi landscapes and a visit to a unique monastery will be the perfect finale to this journey. The tour ends with an unforgettable experience exploring a region known throughout the world for the beauty and inspiration of its landscapes.
